Take Our 30-Day De-Clutter Challenge
Solve Your Organization Fails With Furniture That’s Functional
What is it about January that makes so many of us want to get organized? Is it taking down the Christmas decorations? The start of a new year? Is it part of a nesting/hibernating instinct? Or do we finally just have more time to do it as the cold sets in and we go out less? If you’re someone who is motivated to get organized but has a hard time actually doing it, we’ve got you covered with a 30-day Declutter Challenge — each day gives you a different area of your home/life to tackle, from different areas of the kitchen to closets to the garage, even your handbag. Don’t feel like you have to complete the challenge in a certain amount of time. We’ve designed it to be completed in a single month, but that may not be realistic for everyone. Although, you may be able to cross off several in a single day, you also could spread it out over as much time as you need.
Professional organizers (yes, you can actually hire people to help you get organized!) often suggest getting started by taking stock of your stuff. That means taking everything off the shelves and out of the closets, cabinets and Sort everything into one of three piles — things you want to keep, things to donate to a charity like Goodwill or, if they’re no longer useful in any capacity, things to throw away. Once you’ve edited your stuff down to what you really need and want, you can think about the best way to store it all, because the secret to staying organized is having the right system in place to keep you on track. That could be bins and baskets, but you might want to think bigger. That’s where we come in.
Maybe what you need in your home office or work space is the right kind of cabinet or credenza to set up a printer or a place to organize your papers. Maybe your solution to clutter in the family room is a storage ottoman. Is your mud room or entry way a mess of shoes and random things, like the dog’s leash, winter gloves and caps, or an umbrella? A storage bench can serve as both a place to keep your running shoes and a place to sit down to put them on before taking the dog on a walk. How has your TV set up carried you through the binge-watching days of the pandemic? If you’ve realized you need more shelves or drawers in your TV area, consider a new entertainment center or maybe a console table/cabinet that can double as an entertainment center. If you find yourself wishing you had more closet space in your bedroom, a bed with a storage footboard will provide a great place for extra blankets or bulky sweaters. And the best part of our organizing solutions is that they’re pretty and not hidden inside the kitchen cabinet or behind the closet door.
