A Hallmark Christmas Movie in the Making

The Hallmark Movie Channel is coming to Union Furniture & Flooring . . . well, not really, but it might as well be, because the street in front of the store will be transformed into something right out of a movie set on Friday evening, Nov. 18, when we host our annual Christmas Block Party on S’mores Street from 5 to 8 p.m. If you’ve ever attended, you already know. If you haven’t, you won’t want to miss it. You’ll feel like you’re inside a Hallmark Christmas movie . . . que light snow falling and the sound of music to fall in love by. (There actually was a 2013 Hallmark Christmas movie about a department store window decorator called “Window Wonderland.”)

The centerpiece of the evening will be the unveiling of our famous Christmas window displays. Our design team has been working behind the scenes (and behind the paper-covered windows) for months now to create the incredible scenes that will leave you staring at them as long as you can to take in and notice all the details. Maybe bring a pen and paper so you can start making your Christmas Wish List, because the windows will be open for shopping the next morning. This has been an annual treat for families across the area for generations, so we have grown the reveal into an event worthy of the Hallmark movie comparison. We will be serving complimentary hot cocoa and mulled wine to keep you warm while you stroll along the sidewalk viewing each of the 15 window displays. Firepits will be set up in the street so you can warm your hands or roast marshmallows for s’mores. The Union High School food truck will be on site selling sandwiches, snacks and s’mores packets to benefit the Ladycats softball team, and live music will be provided by Joey Wray (https://www.facebook.com/joeywraymusic). As if that’s not enough Christmas ambiance, Santa, Mrs. Claus and a live reindeer will be here too. Talk about the picture-perfect holiday card backdrop!
Our Holiday Open House, which used to be a mere one-day event, will kick off the next morning, Saturday, Nov. 19, at 9 a.m. Just as we have done for the last couple of years, we have extended our Open House to a 10 day shopping extravaganza, running through Monday, Nov. 28th. This is truly the most wonderful time of year for Union Furniture & Flooring customers, because we offer a 10% discount on furniture (exclusions apply, see store for details) for anyone who brings in a new unwrapped toy or nonperishable food items to donate to our local pantries.
Our hours for the holiday season are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 4 p.m. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for promotional and special event information and sneak peeks of products and design ideas.
